Safety

Safety in rugby is the number one consideration of Tryble Academy and its coaches.

Children’s training and matches

While rugby in general is a contact sport, this is introduced slowly and safely and only once participants reach the required age, in line with World Rugby overarching guidelines.

Below the age of 9, there is no contact in rugby training. Children of the same gender play together and wear tag belts to simulate a tackle.

Above the age of 9 contact is built very gradually, with initial focus on skills, very limited and light contact and limited participation in games.

Children of the same age will play together but coaches will have consideration of relative size.
Health, general condition and injuries

Participants MUST ensure that coaches are made aware of pre-existing medical conditions.

In addition, participants or their parent / guardian as applicable must take responsibility for their general condition in taking part in Tryble activities and matches which includes appropriate nutrition, hydration, that they have taken appropriate rest and that they take appropriate heat and sun precautions. Participants or their parent / guardien MUST inform coaches if they are feeling in any way unwell on the day and in the days following.
Tryble coaches will be vigilant in monitoring the safety of training but participants must inform coaches in the event of injury. Coaches will administer first aid as they see fit and, where required, will seek emergency or other medical care.

Kit

Tryble coaches will provide instructions on safe and culturally appropriate kit. Participants must ensure that they follow coaches’ instructions and that their kit is appropriately clean.

In the event that participants are not wearing kit that is acceptable to Tryble coaches, it may not be possible for the participant to take part in Tryble activities and matches.

Participants will ensure jewellery is removed and hair tied back and will seek instructions from coaches if unsure.
Equipment

Tryble will ensure that equipment is safe and meets best practice standards for rugby training, is well maintained and appropriately clean. Participants will ensure that they follow Tryble coaches’ instructions in their use of equipment.

First Aid Training
